Gone Fishin’

At RLTurner, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work. So, when we heard that Tipton High School wanted support for its bass fishing club, we were hooked.

The Blue Devils have had strong teams in the past. They were the first student angler fishing club in Indiana, and they’ve won state titles in 2011, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

The club is led by teachers Dave Case and Doug White, with Hink Hinkle as the team’s coach. During this rebuilding year, the Blue Devils logged plenty of time on the water, got a taste of competitive fishing, and even sent four teams to the state finals, which took place on Patoka Reservoir in May. The top team finished 17th, says Case.

“Many of the students are still learning, but they are having a blast,” he says. “It’s been pretty tough fishing this year so far for the team.”

You know what they say, though: A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work every time.
